Marian Warren

Profile

Marian Warren lives in Calgary, where she manages her own consultancy, Jenner GeoConsulting. Her work has taken her to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, SE Asia and the Americas, where she enjoys sharing with others how geology has influenced the course of human culture and events.

A native of New England, Marian obtained degrees in geology and astronomy/physics, became an instructor in astronomy and then pursued her passion for the geology of mountain belts by completing projects in the Appalachians and the Rocky Mountains. Her time in remote parts of the Columbia Mountains of British Columbia and her interactions with many geologists, local residents and the diverse landscapes across the Cordillera were key drivers in her decision to remain in Canada.

Marian has received the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists’ Medal of Merit and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists’ Matson Award for excellence in technical publication and presentation, and she has toured in North America as an AAPG Distinguished Lecturer.
