Richard Swarbrick

Profile

Richard Swarbrick lives in Bradford-upon-Avon, England, where he manages his own geological consultancy, Swarbrick GeoPressure Consultancy Ltd, and is an honorary professor at the University of Durham.

Richard specializes in the interpretation and validation of subsurface pressure data.

His career includes time in industry and academia, the latter involving teaching geology and basin studies. He founded the GeoPOP research group (a multi-disciplinary project investigating overpressure in sedimentary basins) and GeoPressure Technology Ltd (now part of Ikon Science). More recently he has worked independently consulting and teaching professional development courses.

Awarded with the Geological Society of London’s Petroleum Group Medal in 2018, Richard is now semi-retired and increasingly involved in the GeoEnergy Transition – with interests in energy conservation and sustainable energy sources.
